My Grandfather's Gold Bulova Watch

My Prized possession is a gold Bulova watch that was given to me by my father. The watch
originally belonged to my grandfather who was a jeweler in a small town in Gravelbourg,
Saskatchewan, Canada. The reason the watch is so special to me is because I remember
sitting beside my grandfather at his workbench while he took his watch apart piece by piece
and explained to me how it worked. I was 13 at the time and seeing those tiny gears slowly
turn around step by step was absolutely amazing! I thought is was some kind of magic. The
watch itself is a very basic design and has a light gold face with Roman Numerals for the
hours. The crystal is pretty beat up and the metal is quite scratched and worn. Basically,
it looks its age which is about 80 years old. It is self-winding so there is no battery.
You keep it working by shaking your wrist from time to time. It also has its original gold
mesh strap. I imagine the watch is worth a lot of money, but I will never sell it. It has
become a family heirloom and I hope it stays in the family for many generations.
